Let us talk a little about the Festival of Lights and how giving plants is a thoughtful gesture of love.

A Long Time Ago

Once upon a time in the ancient city of Ayodhya, lived the noble and virtuous prince Rama. One day he was exiled from his kingdom and sent to live in the forest with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. During their exile, the demon king Ravana kidnapped Sita which led to an epic battle. With the help of the monkey god Hanuman and his army, Lord Rama was able to defeat Ravana and rescue Sita. Diwali celebrates the coming back of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana back to Ayodhya by winning the battle of good over evil. The people of Ayodhya celebrated the return of Lord Rama by illuminating the paths with diyas and making rangolis.

We have all heard this story numerous times since our childhood, seen TV shows based on it, and read stories about it, and yet every time the magic of Diwali is the same. People rejoice and make merry and as a token of love give sweets and gifts to each other.

The Gift Of Plants

Even thousands of years later, the festival is celebrated with the same enthusiasm and joy. Since Diwali is all about welcoming prosperity into our lives, giving plants as gifts is the perfect way to do so. Plants symbolise growth, stability, and nurturing needs. Need more?

  • It is an eco-friendly gift that will stay with your loved one for years and whenever they see a new leaf sprouting up or a flower bloom they will be reminded of you. Besides, it will also help to make their homes greener and make a connection with nature.
  • To be honest, the aesthetic appeal of a beautiful plant never goes out of style. Whether it is the power-packed Aloe Vera plant, the Peace-lily, a flowering plant, or an elegant Bonsai tree, plants add a touch of humbleness wherever they are placed.
  • Many indoor plants such as the Areca Palm, or the Xanadu plant are excellent air purifiers. They absorb harmful pollutants and clean the air inside our homes. This is also one of the many reasons why gifting a plant on Diwali is such a fabulous idea.

So, now that you know about all the wonderful reasons to gift plants on Diwali, let’s get working. There is so much to plan, just like yours, our hearts are aglow with excitement too. The Festival of Lights is here, bringing with it twinkling lights, colourful rangolis, delicious sweets, and greenery all around.
